The credit union industry has seen asset and share growth expand in 2008.

At mid-year, credit unions grew to more than $824 billion in total assets,
and are on track to surpass $1 trillion in total assets during 2010.

Consumers continue to flock to credit unions, with 91 million Americans saying
they were credit union members at mid-year, according to the Credit Union National Association.

• As of July 2008 there were 8,243 federally insured credit unions with 91 million members.
• Members have entrusted $692.7 billion in credit unions as of mid-year 2008, up from $649.6 billion in 2007.
